Lise Buyer, Principal, Class V Group

Lise-Buyer-principal-with-Class-V-Group-sqSeeing a great need to help management teams better understand the nuances and details of the IPO process, Lise founded the Class V Group to leverage her uniquely informed perspective on the equity markets, gained from having first-hand experience as an institutional investor, investment banker, venture capitalist, board member and internal IPO coordinator/employee.

Previously, Ms Buyer was the Director of Business Optimization for Google Inc. where she was one of the chief architects of the company’s innovative IPO and as a result, a recipient of a Google Founders’ Award, the highest employee accolade, given to those who have made extraordinary entrepreneurial contributions to the company. She joined the technology industry following a career in the investment industry, including as a buy side investor, sell side analyst and as a venture capitalist. Earlier in her career, she ran the Internet/New Media research practice for Credit Suisse First Boston, during which time the quality of her research was ranked #1 in the prestigious Greenwich Associates poll.

Previously, she was an institutional investor at T.Rowe Price Associates, where she was responsible investments in desktop technology and on the investment committee of firm’s Science and Technology Fund, consistently one of the top performing technology mutual funds at that time. She began her career as an analyst of both the technology and entertainment industries. Ms Buyer was Chairman of the Independent Directors and of the M&A Committee of the Board for Greenfield Online (NASDAQ: SRVY) until it was acquired by Microsoft. She is a past Trustee of the Nichols School, Fellow of the Davos World Economic Forum and recipient of a Silicon Valley Women of Influence award. She holds a BA from Wellesley College and an MBA from Vanderbilt University’s Owen School of Management.

Ida Kane, CFO, AppFolio

Ida-Kane-CFO-AppFolio-sqIda is responsible for AppFolio’s financial strategy as well as legal and administrative operations. Her team works closely with all departments to ensure we grow quickly and stay on track with our financial plan. Ida is an avid long distance runner and if you can keep up with her pace you’ll find her enjoying the sunny Santa Barbara outdoors.

Most recently she served as CFO of Rightscale, Inc., a leader in cloud portfolio management. Before Rightscale Ida was CFO and SVP of NASDAQ-listed thinkorswim Group Inc., a leading online brokerage and investor education firm, until its sale to TD AMERITRADE. Before thinkorswim she was a divisional CFO and VP of Operations at FranklinCovey and has also held various executive-level financial and operational management positions for other publicly traded and private companies. Ida received her M.B.A. and bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Miami, Florida, and earned her CPA license from the State of Florida.

Alison Bauerlein, Co-founder and CFO, Inogen

Ali_Bauerlein-Inogen-CFO-sqAlison Bauerlein is a co-founder of Inogen and has served as our Chief Financial Officer since 2009 and Vice President, Finance since 2008. Prior to serving in these positions, Ms. Bauerlein also served as Controller with our company from 2001 to 2004 and 2008 to 2009, and Director of Financial Planning and Analysis from 2004 to 2008. Ms. Bauerlein has also served as Corporate Secretary and Corporate Treasurer since 2002. During her time with our company, Ms. Bauerlein has helped the company raise approximately $91 million in venture capital funding. Ms. Bauerlein currently serves on the board of directors of Active Life Scientific, Inc. Ms. Bauerlein received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics/Mathematics with high honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Jim Andelman, Managing Director, Rincon Venture Partners

Jim-Andelman-RinconVPJim is co-founder and Managing Director of Rincon Venture Partners. In this capacity, he is responsible for driving the fund’s investment activities, as well as the firm’s operations. Jim is in his fifteenth  year as a VC.

Previously, Jim led software investing at Broadview Capital Partners, a $250 million expansion-stage venture capital firm based in the Bay Area. Before BCP, Jim was a member of the Technology Investment Banking Group at Alex. Brown & Sons (and its successor, Deutsche Bank Securities). There, he concentrated on equity private placements and initial public offerings for software companies. Jim began his career with Symmetrix, a boutique management consulting firm founded by a Bain & Co. founder, which helped to create strategic advantage through the application of technology. At Symmetrix, Jim specialized in strategy formulation and economic modeling.

Matthew is the founder of Tenor, a brand, marketing and communications strategy firm for private growth companies and investors in the private capital markets. His private capital markets work includes the launch of two technology platforms for private company investing and strategic communications for several high-profile initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions. Matthew graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in English. He has taught courses at both San Francisco State University and Stanford University. He currently lectures on startup business strategy at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
