About the Speakers


Melissa O’Malley, Director, Global Initiatives, PayPal

Melissa O’Malley brings more than 20 years of experience in developing and implementing international communications and marketing programs for companies ranging from Swiss tech startups to “Fortune 15” powerhouses to her role at PayPal.

As Director of Global Initiatives at PayPal, Melissa is responsible for creating and executing global programs that help millions of consumers and merchants to conveniently and safely shop and sell in the 200+ markets where PayPal operates.

Melissa came to PayPal in 2014 from HP, where she was the Director of Global Social Media/Influencer Programs. In this role, she created the first pan-HP social media program for the global communications team that enhanced brand awareness, drove customer engagement and supported sales across HP’s $112 billion portfolio.

Before joining HP in California in 2009, Melissa was based in Munich, where she led the HP Europe, Middle East and Africa Personal Systems Group Public Relations and Analyst Relations team for Porter Novelli.

Formerly the marketing communications lead at Zurich-based UPAQ, Melissa wrote the strategic business plan which raised over 30 million Swiss Francs of investment funding for the firm. Melissa began her career at Éditions Fixot/TF1 in Paris.

Melissa has been featured in national and global publications such as Forbes, Fast Company and CNN Expansión and has served as a guest speaker for the US Department of Commerce, the US Small Business Administration, the International Trade Administration and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

Melissa earned a bachelor’s degree in English and graduated magna cum laude from Boston University.


Christian Smith, President and Co-founder, TrackR

Christian Smith, UC Santa Barbara graduate and President and co-founder of TrackR, the Santa Barbara-based pioneer of item tracking platforms, specializes in introducing new audiences, customers and companies to the brand.

Overseeing the channel sales and partnership divisions at TrackR, Smith has sold over 1.5 million devices worldwide and secured national retail distribution in the second largest general merchandise retailer in America.

Smith approaches partnerships in a straight-forward manner and focuses on under-standing the buyer, knowing the market and being persistent. He has secured numer-ous partnerships ranging from Best Buy to Mezzi luxury leather.

Smith brings a unique perspective to any team he is a part of, coupling an engineering background with entrepreneur skills that allow him to understand technical challenges, communicate clearly with the engineering team and recognize the business implica-tions that impact consumers, investors and partners.

As the Santa Barbara-based start up continues to grow, the focus of TrackR remains – to transfer the location database of valuables from people’s heads to their phones, allowing them to focus on the things in life that will evolve us as a community, rather than spending valuable time looking for lost items.

Carolyn McCall, COO and Co-founder, MineMine Kids

Carolyn is a Fashion Industry Executive in global retail and wholesale apparel, footwear and accessories. Her background is comprised of specialty retail companies and international lifestyle brands, including Neiman Marcus, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Bally of Switzerland. Carolyn’s broad experience in the industry brought her to creating McCall Consulting Group in 2008, a Global Fashion Business Development Practice.

In 2016, Carolyn co-founded and launched MineMine Kids, a global e-commerce marketplace for the world of kids.  MineMine Kids holds a unique position in the market, as traditional retailers are retracting from the children’s category to concentrate on the adult world, MMK focuses strictly on kids, and fills this newly created white space. MineMine Kids is disrupting the children’s online business by using new and innovative methods to capture a broad range of customers worldwide.

A Westmont College graduate, Carolyn serves on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Barbara and is a Mentor for the Enterprise Launch Program for Entrepreneurship & Innovation.

Chris Lueck, CEO, FastSpring

Prior to joining FastSpring, Chris was a co-founder and Managing Partner of Pylon Capital, an entrepreneurial investment firm focused on investing in high growth, technology-enabled service companies. Chris previously managed product development for Nyko Technologies, the leading video game accessory company in North America. Before Nyko, he was a product engineer at Qualcomm, where he worked on the development of mobile communications chips, including the world’s first 3G communications chip.

Chris holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia, and an MBA with honors from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business, where he was a Leadership and Academic Scholar.

Andrew Schydlowsky, CEO and Founder, TrackStreet

Andrew is founder and CEO of TrackStreet (, the leading platform for Internet Brand Protection, Channel Management and Optimization, which gives manufacturers and brands an “Unfair Competitive Advantage” in a rapidly changing retail ecosystem.

Andrew is also founder of Sticky (, the leading platform for adding customer-driven, dynamic, conversation to web pages and video.

Formerly, Andrew founded and served as president of Performance Unlimited, Inc. (, an e-tailer of health and wellness products and Soma Distribution, Inc., a US-based DSD wholesale distributor of branded nutritional products and mass-market beverages.

He founded Kala International, Ltd, a proprietary sport nutrition products company, and Soma Internacional, S.A., a Peru based import/export firm dealing in medicinal herbs, machinery, and computer technology. 

Andrew also served as chief growth officer for a chain of retail stores, project coordinator at BIDE (an economic consulting firm in Washington, D.C.), consultant to a private consulting firm in Rome, Italy, and training program developer for Unisys Asia.

In 2008 Andrew received the 2008 Pacific Business Times 40 Under 40 Award.

Mike Smith is Chief Technology Officer at FastSpring where he is responsible for advancing the state of the art in global ecommerce solutions.  Prior to FastSpring, Mike was Chief Technology Officer at Verisk Analytics, where he was and responsible for business growth through technological innovation.  An advocate of systems thinking, data visualization, transparent modeling and scenario-based forecasting, he worked with internal and external clients to leverage emerging technologies for creating or transforming business models.

Prior to Verisk, Mike was Chief Technology Officer/Chief Architect at Interthinx, a Verisk Analytics company, where he managed the design and deployment of SaaS solutions for automated fraud and compliance analysis, loan file reviews, as well as systems for analyzing and forecasting consumer loan portfolios.   Prior to joining Interthinx, he was Chief Software Architect for Strategic Analytics, where he developed patented technologies in non-linear time series decomposition and scenario-based forecasting for retail lending.  Mike taught courses in complex systems analysis and portfolio modeling to top retail lenders around the world, developing new business in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and Asia.

Mike earned his BS in Computer Science from Colorado State University, and ABD in Psychoacoustics from Arizona State University.
