Education impacts human evolution and virtually every industry on earth… yet it has stayed mostly the same for decades, lagging behind the needs of today’s employers as companies struggle to find qualified candidates and 7.6 million jobs go unfilled in the U.S. alone.  Similarly, high school seniors aren’t ready and up to 60% must take remedial classes to catch up… on top of increasingly costly tuition.

With many schools failing to prepare the nation’s graduates, and the rising need for continuing education and retooling of existing employees, education technology (EdTech) has become one of the world’s most active investment areas, attracting over $16 billion in new funding in 2018. These EdTech companies are aiming to fill the widening skills gap, transform teaching and learning, and increase students’ chances of success.

From online education-to-career planning, to teacher-rated open education resources and personalized learning, to micro-credentials and e-badges, to MOOCs (massive open online courses) and online learning, to tamper-resistant universal credentialing systems and lifelong learning record stores, to AI and adaptive learning, to learning management systems, to virtual/augmented reality and game-based learning and beyond, EdTech startups are emerging in virtually every sector of the $6 trillion global education market.

Join us to find out what’s working in EdTech for students of all ages, teachers/professors, school administrators and companies, where the opportunities are for the next wave of EdTech entrepreneurs and investors, and the challenges EdTech users, customers and companies face.

This program will be moderated by Kristin Horton, Education Chair, MITEF CC and Founder & President, Haven Capital Group, Inc.
