Marc is the head of the music division of William Morris Endeavor (WME), overseeing the agency’s worldwide music business.  In this capacity he is the agent for Neil Diamond, David Byrne, Lady Gaga, Nine Inch Nails, Jack White, Steve Martin, Tony Bennett, Pixies, Outkast, LCD Soundsystem, Roger Waters, Trent Reznor, and oversees 2400 music clients and properties.

Marc co-founded the Lollapalooza Festival in 1991 and has since helped build it into the world’s most successful global festival brand.  He co-founded and was CEO of ARTISTdirect in 1997 on the premise that the Internet was going to radically reshape the music business. ARTISTdirect is credited as the first Internet company to create a direct connection between musicians and fans.  Under Marc’s auspices, ARTISTdirect signed more than 130 top recording artists to e-commerce agreements and went public in 2000.  Marc is one of the original digital pioneers in the entertainment industry.

Marc left ARTISTdirect in 2003 to join The William Morris Agency as a Senior Vice President in the music division.  After William Morris merged with Endeavor to become WME, he became the head of the music business of WME.

Marc has appeared on the Billboard “Power 100” list for four years straight – 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.  He has won numerous Pollstar Awards, including three for Agent of the Year.

Tom was a Senior Engineer at Apple from 1991-1995 developing user interface features that became key differentiators for the Mac OS.

Tom then held technical leadership positions at Berkeley Systems, Documentum/Relevance and   In 2000 he joined Kenemea where as VP Engineering he led the development of Kenemea’s award winning technology stack (InforWorld “Technology of the Year 2002”.

In 2004, Tom joined Pandora as EVP & CTO.  At Pandora he was responsible for product design, software engineering, and technical operations.  He oversaw the evolution from a subscription business model to advertising supported streaming.  Tom served as CTO for 10 years before retiring in 2013.

We are very proud that Tom presented Pandora’s story to the MIT Enterprise Forum of the Central Coast back in 2009.

John is the CEO and serves on the Board of Directors of Sonos, the premiere manufacturer of wireless music systems.

John co-founded Sonos in 2002 with a seasoned team of people on a mission to re-create modern HiFi for the digital age and fill every home with music. For the past decade, John has helped to build a global leadership team consisting of the best acoustics, software, hardware and design innovators in the world.  Sonos is considered the pioneer of the wireless home audio category and the benchmark for how modern music lovers listen to music in the home.

In 1992, John co-founded and served as the CEO of John and the team built large-scale internet based email systems for the world’s largest telecommunications companies. became a NASDAQ-listed public company in 1999 and in 2001, merged with to form Openwave Systems.

John graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Master of Science and holds a Bachelor of Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

We are very proud that John presented Sonos’ story to the MIT Enterprise Forum back in September 2006.  Three years later, he participated in our May 2009 program “The Music Industry is Moving and Shaking!!!” which featured Tom Conrad and Pandora.

L_Robert_JohnsonBob is the Managing Partner of Founders Capital Partners, a venture capital angel group focused on early-stage technology-based businesses in the central coast region. Earlier, Bob was the Managing Partner of the Sprout Capital Group, the venture capital arm of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, Inc. He has served on the boards of numerous public and private companies in connection with his venture activities.  He is a former Director of the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) and a former Governor of the National Association of Small Business Investment Companies (NASBIC).

Bob earned a BS in physics from MIT in 1963 and an MBA with Distinction from the Harvard Business School in 1965.  He is a director of the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara, the Santa Barbara Performing Arts Center (Granada) and is a Life Member of the MIT Corporation.
